Tarangire National Park Day Tour

Overview

Tarangire National Park is primarily famous for the abundance of age-old baobabs and big families of elephants gathering in the vicinity of the main water source – the Tarangire River. Besides baby elephants and their parents the Tarangire is home to zebras, giraffes, hyenas, wart-hogs, buffalos and many other predators and ungulates.

The park will also be a treat for bird enthusiasts. More than 550 bird species abiding in the Tarangire National Park present ample opportunity for bird watching: brightly plumaged yellow necked spur fowls, white crowned shrikes and black necked weavers are among the most frequent sightings here.

Vast rolling grasslands, thick acacia bush, baobab and palm trees featuring the unique Tarangire landscape will leave a lasting imprint on your memory.

Itinerary

After early breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel at Arusha and drive to a very special national park. Tarangire is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. The park is particularly well-known for the abundance of ancient baobab trees (the largest trees on the continent), which fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The park’s river attracts a large variety of wildlife, ranging from birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. In fact, the park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families.

The lunch area is fascinating, boasting an observatory with amazing views of the river and wildlife. In the afternoon, we will do another game drive before returning to Arusha at Late afternoon.
