Overview

Maji Moto, known locally as Kikuletwa Hotsprings, is paradisaic oasis amidst the Tanzanian savannah, offers captivating, Bounty-styled views, crystal-clean water and dense vegetation around. Located in 2-hour drive from Moshi / Arusha (Tanzania) – the main climbing hub of the region – Chemka Hot Springs is the best place to visit after a Kilimanjaro hike or a safari adventure.

Chemka oasis is a unique phenomenon – it is the only place in Tanzania (and most likely in the whole East Africa), where the groundwater actively interacted with geothermal sources, forming a number of small lakes with warm, never-stagnating water, which purity is not inferior to the best Dominican or Maldivian resorts.

  • Itinerary

We will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and pass through dried river beds, baobab, and acacia trees as we make our way to our destination. The hot springs of Kikuletwa, also known as Chemka Hot Springs, are close to Rundugai and one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania. Palm and fig trees with winding roots surround the pool.

Blue monkeys can be seen on the tree branches above, while the crystal clear, turquoise water invites you for a swim. Although they are called hot springs, the water in Kikuletwa is not truly ‘hot’ but refreshing, as Kilimanjaro is the primary water source of the pool. Enjoy a wonderful day just as you want, dozing off in the sun, chatting with the locals at the small bar, or swimming – you determine how you want to spend the day! At noon, we will have a picnic lunch, and in the late afternoon, we will return to your hotel, feeling relaxed and refreshed.
