We have very flexible payment terms

To participate in our Kilimanjaro climbing expedition, the deposit is only 10%. For a safari we ask for a deposit of 20% of the tour cost. If for some reason you want to cancel your participation in the trip, we will refund your deposit payment according to our cancellation policy.

No additional payments

With Samora Explorers, there are no surprise costs. Your trip will cost exactly as much as the manager told you before you traveled to Tanzania. We guarantee that you will not have any overpayments or other unpleasant surprises upon arrival. If for some reason we are forced to change the program – Samora Explorers will do so at its own expense and only in cases that are necessary, and will make your experience better. Samora Explorers accepts payments in almost any way – by bank card, transfer to our account or cash on arrival.

What to Pack for a Tanzanian Safari?

Packing for your first African safari can be quite a challenge. What do you need? What kind of clothes do you bring? Don’t stress too much about what to pack. Just keep it simple and pack lightly. The luggage you can bring on safari vehicles or smaller planes is limited, and a lot of lodges and camps offer laundry services, so there is no need to bring different clothes for each day of your trip. On most Tanzanian safaris it’s going to be sunny, so pack lightweight clothes and good sun protection. This is our advice on what you need for a safari in Tanzania.

Backpack

It’s always handy to have a more manageable bag (small backpack or duffle bag) that you can have with you in the vehicle.

It seems obvious, but we would be remiss if we didn’t put this at the top of the list of what you must pack for your safari.

Prescription Meds

Remember to put your prescription medications in your hand luggage (in case your check-in bag goes astray… it happens!)…and make sure you have enough of each type to last your entire safari.

To chill during sunsets and especially at night, you must pack insect repellents.

Camera, Video and Binoculars

Whilst most people will remember to take their camera and/or video (or will use their mobile phone), not everyone thinks they need to take binoculars!

In some occasions, you want to have a closer look and if you have your own binoculars you can see more details. Usually, we also have at least two binoculars by vehicle, but to be on the safe side you can bring your own.

What you must pack for your safari are your phone, music, tablet, or laptop – and their respective chargers (Africa is generally 3-prong round or square, like the UK)

Medications

Please don’t forget to carry any prescribed or eventually any other medicine in need. This is just a fancy way of saying ‘meds’ – stuff you need, just in case the worst happens: diarrhea, headaches, heartburn, insect repellent, hand sanitizer, bites (antihistamine), indigestion, sore throat (lozenges), eye drops, and most important – anti-malarial tablets.

Prescription Glasses (Sunglasses, Hat, Sunblock)

If you wear prescription glasses, be sure to pack more than one set (in case you lose one, or they get broken). You will be outdoors for much of the time, so be prepared. Pack a hat, sunblock, long sleeves, and lip balm.

Hand Luggage

Firstly, try to restrict your hand luggage to one item only, if for no other reason than more than one item makes travel that much harder. And, yes, a handbag qualifies as a second item! Obviously, that one item should be of a size that is acceptable as carry-on luggage by the airlines.

A safari vehicle in Tanzania needs to be tough enough to get off the beaten track and deep into the African wilderness, safely and reliably. It needs to be rugged but comfortable, and most of all; it needs to be well-maintained. Your safari vehicle can make or break your trip. You don’t want to be limited by a vehicle that can’t take you to the best places for viewing wildlife, nor do you want to lose valuable time on a safari due to breakdowns. Samora Explorers Ltd has thought about these things, and we’ve got you covered.

We have a fleet of Toyota Land Cruisers, the toughest vehicles in the African bush. They are modern, clean, and in perfect working order. Some of our safari vehicles have a longer wheelbase, offering a seating capacity of seven window seats, while some have five window seats.

Best Time to Visit Tanzania for Safari

When planning a safari, picking the best time to visit Tanzania is important. The weather and the seasons can make a significant difference in seeing the animals and the stunning landscapes.

This means that it comes as little surprise that one of the most asked questions when it comes to booking a break in Tanzania, is what time of year is best?

To help you to make sure that you plan the best break in Tanzania possible, we have put together our guide to the very best time of year to visit.

The best time to visit Tanzania is during the Dry season, from late June to October, when wildlife viewing is generally at its best. The wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is usually during June and July and the time to see the wildebeest calving is late January to February. The southern and western circuit parks are best visited during the Dry season (June to October), unlike the more popular northern circuit parks that can be visited year-round.

Best Time: June to October (All parks), June-July and January-February (Serengeti for the wildebeest migration and calving)

High Season: July to March (northern circuit parks; they get crowded), July to October (southern and western circuit parks; they don’t really get crowded any time of the year)

Low Season: April and May (northern circuit parks still get quite a few visitors unlike the southern and western circuit parks, where many lodges close down)

Best Weather: June to October (Little to no rainfall)

Worst Weather: March and April (Peak of Wet season)

June and July are the Best Time To Visit Tanzania and see the wildebeest migration
August to September is the best time to see the wildebeest river crossings in northern Serengeti

Mornings and nights get cold; it’s recommended to bring warm clothing

Low Season

November to May –Wet Season
January-February is the time to see the calving in the southern Serengeti and an excellent time to see predator action
The scenery is green and beautiful; it’s low season, meaning lower rates and less crowded parks
Although wildlife is easier to spot in the Dry season, you’ll still see plenty, especially in the northern circuit parks
Migratory birds are present, and bird watching is at its best
Except for March, April, and May, rains are mostly short afternoon showers and seldom interfere with your trip
March to May is the peak of the Wet season
Wildlife viewing in Tarangire, Katavi, Selous and Ruaha is better during the Dry season
